AVEVA Multi-Discipline Supports

Efficient design of all types of pipe, duct and cable tray supports

AVEVA Multi-Discipline Supports is a highly productive application for fully designing all kinds of pipe, duct and cable tray supports, from a complicated framework to a simple u-bolt. Integrated completely with AVEVA Plant, it enables the huge numbers of supports in a plant to be fully defined and accurately positioned with speed and efficiency.

Full power

  • All users have access to all the facilities of the AVEVA 3D environment at all times.
  • All supports data is managed within the Dabacon database.

Automatic part creation

  • Supports are automatically modelled from the supplier’s catalogue data, creating all necessary components.

'Right first time' design

  • Design rules offer only the appropriate supports for pipes, ducts or cable trays.
  • A wide range of pre-defined supports are supplied and specials may be easily created where necessary.
  • Integrity and clash-checking tools can be used at any time.

Complete information

  • Each support is created as a fully detailed part of the 3D model, visible to all disciplines.
  • All supports can be included in layout drawings, visualisations, weight calculations etc.

Full deliverables

  • Comprehensive design outputs include fully detailed drawings and Material Take Off, weights, line identifications, fabrication details, weld data, location plans, isometric views and drawing schedules.

Reduced design man-hours

  • AVEVA Multi-Discipline Supports simplifies one of the most labour-intensive aspects of plant design.
  • Working in AVEVA’s integrated 3D design environment, support designers can collaborate closely with related engineering disciplines.
  • The software enables the definition of the support components available to the designer. Also available are a set of manufacturers’ catalogues.

Better design quality

  • Automatic design checking tools eliminate errors.
  • Fabrication drawings can be produced automatically, complete with material lists, weights, etc.
  • Accurate and complete Material Take Offs (MTO) can be produced for all or any subsets of supports.

Effective control and change management

  • All supports data is created within the AVEVA 3D design environment, providing sophisticated data-management, work-sharing, access and change-management controls.

Reduced schedule times

  • Support design is made more productive, both in initial creation of the supports and in making changes during the project design cycle.
  • Accurate materials information allows correct and timely procurement.
  • Integrity and clash-checking tools eliminate design errors and avoid construction delays.

Overview

A support designer is provided with a range of available support components and steelwork configurations configured for the AVEVA Plant project. As the designer selects a pipe, HVAC duct or cable tray to be supported, he will be presented only with those components applicable to the item, according to pipe bore, material, temperature, and so on.

Also available are interfaces to support manufacturers’ design software:

A typical work process:

  1. Identify the item to be supported and the appropriate steelwork, civil or hull connection.
  2. Transfer information from the AVEVA design model to the support manufacturer's software.
  3. Design the support in the manufacturer’s software.
  4. Exit and return to the AVEVA model, where the new support is created in situ.
