Richard Longdon received an engineering training in the defence industry then gained experience in the project management of high value engineering projects. He moved into sales and held a series of international sales and marketing positions. He joined AVEVA in 1984 and, shortly afterwards, was made marketing manager for the process products. In January 1992 he relocated to Frankfurt, where he was responsible for setting up and running the Group's German office. He returned to the UK as part of the management buyout team in 1994, taking responsibility for the Group's worldwide sales and marketing activities, before being appointed Managing Director in May 1999. He took over as Group Chief Executive in December 1999.
Chief Executive Officer
Prior to taking on the position of CEO at AVEVA in January 2017, James, a highly experienced Chartered Accountant held several senior finance roles within the Group and was Head of Finance from 2006 and CFO from 2011 through to 2016.
He joined AVEVA back in 2004 at the time of the Tribon acquisition and played a significant part in the completion of this transaction and the subsequent integration of the acquired business. His responsibilities have included investor relations, the development of the Group’s overseas subsidiaries, standardisation of financial processes and procedures, as well as being heavily involved in the Group’s recent acquisitions. Prior to joining AVEVA James worked for both Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, serving clients in both transactional and audit engagements.
Chief Financial Officer/Executive Director
David joined AVEVA in 2011 as the Head of Finance before being appointed to the Board as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in July 2016.
In his five years with AVEVA, David has led the development of the Group's Finance function and AVEVA's risk and internal controls agenda. He has also been heavily involved in all acquisitions completed since 2011, as well as a number of other strategic initiatives for the company.
Prior to joining AVEVA, David worked for Ernst & Young for 14 years in various roles within the Assurance practice and completed a secondment to easyJet plc as Group Treasurer.
Deputy Chief Executive and Group CTO
Dave's responsibilities encompass all aspects of product strategy, product development and delivery of new products and product upgrades, including the revolutionary AVEVA NET platform and the world-leading 3D Plant Design Management System (PDMS). Dave is responsible for the technical direction and software engineering processes that underpin the development of AVEVA's integrated engineering IT solutions.
Dave joined AVEVA (formerly known as CADCentre) in May 1981. His early work in the company fuelled a lifelong interest in the use of computers to solve design and data management problems. He held a number of development, product management and marketing positions before assuming his current responsibilities.
Before joining CADCentre, Dave spent three years researching advanced wastewater treatment technologies after achieving a first-class degree in Environmental Chemical Engineering.
Executive Vice-President, Global Sales
With a degree in Mechanical Engineering and more than 25 years’ industry experience, Helmut has worked in the Process Plant industry in Engineering, IT and Marketing roles. Helmut spent 12 years at Intergraph as a Technical Manager before moving into a sales role focused on software solutions for the automotive industry.
In 2004 Helmut joined AVEVA as Managing Director for our Central European operations, later expanding his responsibilities to include Eastern Europe, Benelux and Nordic territories. In April 2013 Helmut joined the Executive team with responsibility for EMEA Sales.
Executive Vice-President, Global Services
Grimur Lund graduated from Aalborg University in 1985 in System Engineering. After working 2 years at Aalborg Shipyard he was one of the founders of Logimatic 1987 – an IT & Engineering company. Initially he build up the IT division until he in 2002 became the CEO. In his years with Logimatic he took active role in building up a global market position for the company and in particular the MARS product.
In 2010 AVEVA acquired the entire MARS business and in the same transaction Grimur joined AVEVA. He was from the start responsible for restructuring the Service Delivery organisation and took part in building up the Enterprise Solution line of business. In 2015 became the leader of Global Technical Support. In April 2016 Grimur joined the Executive team with the remit of Global Services, which encompasses Technical Sales, Professional Services, Customer Support, Product Support and Quality.
Executive Vice-President, Group Strategy
Les has a degree in Chemical Engineering and over 20 years’ industry experience.
Les spent the early part of his career at Foster Wheeler working as a process engineer. While at Foster Wheeler, Les worked on the design of several large petrochemical facilities, spent time in the field bringing a large LNG facility on stream and managing the construction and commissioning of a hydrogen plant in Teesside.
Les joined AVEVA in February 2005 and during his time at AVEVA has worked in the services team and business development before moving into the strategy team in 2008. Les was appointed to the Executive team to lead Group Strategy in April 2016.
Executive Vice-President, HR
Clare has over 25 years generalist HR experience gained across a variety of sectors working both nationally and globally. Prior to joining AVEVA in 2015, Clare ran her own HR consultancy for 5 years. Clare has held senior HR leadership roles with Marks and Spencer, RAC and Munters AB. She is member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management.
