The primary purpose of this role is to promote and support the use of Navision, and add-on solutions, around AVEVA. From a Finance perspective, this means managing NAV upgrades, Change Requests and deployment of NAV add-on solutions across the Group whilst promoting best practice and adherence to Company Policies amongst the user base.
The role has no direct reports and will be internally facing involving collaboration with the Worldwide Finance, Contract and Licence admin teams as well as individuals with technical specialisms in Licensing and IT. This position will be based in the AVEVA Cambridge office but will involve some short periods of travel to Regional Offices as required.
Develop a detailed understanding of the AVEVA bespoke modifications, and their place within ‘best practice’ AVEVA processes, particularly around sales order processing and licence delivery.
Drive forward any upgrade programme for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV suite participating in Finance discovery, design, testing, deployment, training and Support. In so doing, target consistency where possible, ensuring that the AVEVA Standard company is updated with functionality useful to all Companies. This includes the assessment of local statutory needs to ensure that they are delivered as part of Microsoft localised functionality, or meeting this need with a local Change Request.
Document Change Requests following discussions with the User. Once approved, progress the delivery of the Change from test through to deployment and user awareness, in as short a time as possible whilst adhering to the AVEVA Change Control Process.
Identify and evaluate NAV add-ons to fill gaps in our internal processes to increase process efficiency. Lead the deployment of these solutions across AVEVA.
Provide training and documentation on new functionality as it is deployed, and offer general training to new users via webex.
Provide first line Navision support and advice to Finance, Contracts and Licensing teams worldwide, with regard to processes, data consistency and system best practice.
Promote best practice across Finance maximising the use of NAV and add-ons, in accordance with Group Accounting Policies and Internal Audit recommendations. Flag possible inconsistencies and recommend improvements where required.
Encourage collaboration between the Finance, Contracts and Licensing teams worldwide to share best practice and capture areas for improvement.
Important Working Relationships:
Build and maintain relationships with all members of the UK and overseas Finance, Contracts and Licensing teams.
Work closely with the Information Systems team within IT (eg NAV Developers, SQL and Infrastructure Specialists), on Finance system projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Expert user of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Must have proven experience with current, or one of previous two versions.
Good knowledge of Finance basics is essential eg double entry, core processes, so a proven track record of working with Finance users is required. AAT or part-qualified Accountant would be an advantage.
Although not a technical role, a good knowledge of Navision table structure is required and an understanding of NAV technical administration and security management is desired.
Good knowledge of MS Office (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook) and a sound aptitude for Finance IT systems in general
Good communicator; both written and verbal.
Ability to work logically and methodically with an attention to detail essential, whilst maintaining an overview
Ability to work with staff at different levels throughout the organisation and be able to influence them as appropriate
Ability to work with staff from different countries and cultures, and be receptive to their requirements whilst maintaining consistent Group principles
Ability to influence staff and introduce change sensitively particularly where there is no direct reporting line
Ability to work on own initiative and be able to deliver against requirements with minimum supervision
Team player who can work closely with all disciplines within the Business
Foreign languages would be of benefit
Travel to UK and Overseas Offices for short visits is occasionally required to meet Project demands
