13 March 2008

AVEVA (LSE:AVV), the leading provider of plant and marine design and engineering lifecycle solutions, is pleased to announce that Derek Middlemas, Executive VP for Business Strategy has been selected to join the FIATECH Board of Directors.

FIATECH provides global leadership in identifying and accelerating the development, demonstration and deployment of fully integrated and automated technologies to deliver the highest business value throughout the lifecycle of all types of capital projects.

He has over 25 years of experience in the design and construction of capital projects. Derek joined AVEVA in 2000 and has been involved in business development and AVEVA's overall product/business strategy with special emphasis on their approach to lifecycle data management.

Derek Middlemas commented:
"FIATECH is an important enabler for driving business improvement through integration and automation of engineering technology.  It provides leadership and direction on what AVEVA, as part of the value chain, should and could be doing; and it also provides a mechanism for us to contribute to the debate as a true partner.

"In cooperation with Posc Caesar, FIATECH is driving forward the use of standards for data exchange and sharing, and is a powerful force for change across the entire value chain from Owners, EPCs, Suppliers, S/W and solution vendors. I feel privileged to be able to contribute at the board level, and would encourage all companies involved in the capital project business, and that value the use of engineering technology, to get involved at some level with FIATECH."

According to Rob Glasier, head of AVEVA Americas, "AVEVA Americas has been an active proponent and participant in the FIATECH organisation for many years. With the appointment of Derek, AVEVA's Executive VP for Business Strategy, we are demonstrating a firm commitment to promoting FIATECH's mission to our clients on a global level."
