  AVEVA Cable Design provides a sample electrical catalogue, containing attribute information that permits accurate Weight, Centre of Gravity and Material Take Off reports.
• Automatic naming
  Cables can be created in single-line cabling diagrams, including the automatic naming and annotation of cables and equipment. Depending on the required level of definition, cables can be connected directly to equipment items or to electric connection elements.
• Easy data import
  Cables and equipment can be imported in the form of a cable schedule in Microsoft Excel, or as a .CSV file.
• Design rules ensure quality
  Routing rules control the appropriate selection of cableways and their maximum fill levels, and avoid potential cable interference problems. AVEVA Cable Design can check the compatibility of the cable with the function of the tray, cable attributes, cable connectivity and penetration attributes. A visual representation of cable tray fill level assists correct design.
• Installation design
  Cableway penetrations can be defined and placed, either aligned with, or offset from a cableway.
• Production engineering
  Mark points can be set so that a cable can be installed accurately, by pulling it into place until the mark points on the cable and the cableway are aligned.

  AVEVA Cable Design provides extensive, user-configurable cable, cableway and cable penetration report listings, including calculated values such as weight and centre of gravity.
  Cable core connections to the relevant equipment terminals can be specified and automatically output as a connection diagram, for use during installation. Core Connection diagrams can be configured according to customer conventions.

How it works

1. Reserve space
   In the 3D environment, AVEVA Cable Design users initially use AVEVA Outfitting functions to reserve a spatial volume called a cableway.
2. Route cables
   AVEVA Cable Design can then route cables through these cableways, automatically or manually.
3. Calculate lengths
   After routing, cable cutting lengths are automatically calculated, including any defined excess length.
4. Detail cable trays
   Cable trays can later be fully detailed using AVEVA Outfitting, including all Material Take Off and production details.
