AVEVA makes first sustainable aviation fuel purchase five years early, as part of commitment to World Economic Forum First Movers Coalition

  • AVEVA has completed its first major purchase of sustainable aviation fuel certificates (SAFc), an important step that brings AVEVA in line with fulfilling its World Economic Forum (WEF) First Movers Coalition (FMC) commitment, five years ahead of schedule.
  • This achievement demonstrates how AVEVA’s strategies are accelerating climate action, empowering industries to cut emissions, and placing the company in the vanguard of tech climate impact makers.

London, United Kingdom, 20th JanuaryAVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, driving digital transformation and sustainability, has taken an important step in fulfilling its commitment as part of the World Economic Forum’s the First Movers’ Coalition, with a landmark purchase of sustainable aviation fuel certificates. In doing so, AVEVA joined a handful of leading companies who are actively investing in sustainable fuels to support the transition to a more sustainable future. Through its data-driven solutions and collaborative ecosystem, AVEVA demonstrates how a comprehensive digital transformation strategy, underpinned by strong climate commitments, can empower industries to drive measurable action in addressing the climate crisis.

AVEVA's Sustainability Commitments

Focused on furthering its sustainability commitment through action, AVEVA has already reduced its Scope 1 and 2 operational emissions by over 93% and is on track to cut Scope 3 emissions by 50% by 2030. As a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) First Movers Coalition (FMC) Aviation group, AVEVA set a target to replace at least 5% of conventional jet fuel demand with SAF.

AVEVA purchased SAF certificates from British Airways for use at London Heathrow Airport; an important step that brings AVEVA in line with fulfilling its FMC commitment five years ahead of schedule. BA entered into a multi‑year agreement with EcoCeres for the supply of SAF, supporting the airline’s ambition to power 10% of its flights with SAF by 2030 and to significantly cut lifecycle emissions. EcoCeres is a leading pure play renewable fuels producer producing industrial-scale SAF, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and renewable naphtha. EcoCeres is also an AVEVA customer, using the software to optimize the production of SAF.

In addition, through the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) COP30 procurement initiative, AVEVA reduced the climate impact associated with its COP30 flights, demonstrating ongoing leadership in advancing practical, market-based solutions for decarbonisation.

Caspar Herzberg, CEO, AVEVA said: “The role of tech and industry in driving decarbonisation has never been clearer. By investing in sustainable fuels today, we are demonstrating how climate ambition must be matched by concrete action. Through concerted action like this, industries can scale new technologies, minimise lifecycle emissions, and set a higher standard for responsible growth.”

Noam Boussidan, program head for the First Movers Coalition, WEF, added: “It is great to see First Movers Coalition members in action today. By purchasing SAF as part of its sustainability roadmap, AVEVA continues to show leadership and make meaningful progress toward the fulfillment of its FMC aviation target. Partnerships like these demonstrate how First Movers Coalition members are supporting the development and use of cleaner aviation technology while driving corporate climate action.”
