Responsible Sourcing: Environmental Resources

Embedding sustainability into your operations and setting meaningful targets

AVEVA prioritizes sustainability and embeds it into all important business decisions. We believe everyone shares the responsibility to fight climate change, so we’re committed to acting boldly and extending our efforts across our value chain. This aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which AVEVA fully believes all organizations should strive for.

2026

  • Engage with suppliers responsible for 67% of our supply chain emissions, and encourage them to set their own Science-Based Targets

2030

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions by 90% from an FY2020 base year
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 50% from an FY2020 base year
  • Increase annual sourcing of renewable energy from 1% in FY2020 to 100%

2050

  • Maintain at least a 90% absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emission reduction
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% from an FY2020 base year
  • Achieve our net-zero targets with your partnership

AVEVA’s suppliers contribute significantly to our Scope 3 emissions, second only to the use of our sold products. We are collaborating with suppliers to set climate targets that can lead to a better future. To begin, AVEVA created our Supplier Code of Conduct, outlining what we expect from our suppliers. It covers environmental, regulatory, social, and ethical standards, and will strengthen our partnerships by benefiting everyone involved.

Step-by-step guidance to starting your sustainability journey

Starting on the journey toward sustainability might seem overwhelming. There is a lot of information to navigate. We’ve compiled some resources below to help you understand key terms and concepts. It’s also important to involve your key stakeholders in sustainability decisions¾employees, customers, and suppliers.

Next, calculate your GHG emissions. Referencing the GHG Protocol and using the provided calculator tools can help. Here’s the data you need to collect:

  • Scope 1 (direct emissions): derived from fuels combusted on-site, such as natural gas and/or mobile combustion fuels
  • Scope 2 (indirect emissions): derived from energy consumption through utilities, such as electricity, district heating
  • Scope 3 (value chain): derived from activities that sit outside direct operations, such as business travel, employee commute, purchased goods and services

Not all categories may apply to you. For example, AVEVA’s Scope 3 emissions only include categories 1 (purchased goods and services), 2 (capital goods), 3 (fuel-and-energy-related activities), 5 (waste), 6 (business travel), 7 (employee commute), and 11 (use of sold products).

Use guidance from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to set appropriate targets. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) can find specific guidance tailored to their needs. Once targets are set, submit them for validation with SBTi while engaging stakeholders and developing an action plan to achieve the targets.

AVEVA’s focus is on reducing emissions. When our suppliers reduce their emissions, it contributes to AVEVA’s emissions reductions, benefiting our customers and beyond. It’s a long-term commitment, and we’re here to support you. Refer to the resource list below for tools to help develop your action plan, suitable for different organizational sizes and capabilities.
