Pertamina: Maintaining Indonesia's energy security with AVEVA PI System and AVEVA Predictive Analytics
Indonesia's state-owned energy company, PERTAMINA, confronts production losses due to unplanned shutdowns, impacting its reputation and financial stability, moreover endangering Indonesia's national energy security. To combat this challenge, Pertamina's Digital Transformation strategy was anchored in the Predictive Maintenance project, leveraging big data, asset performance, and machine learning for preemptive measures. PERTAMINA's comprehensive Digital Transformation approach, emphasizing People Process Technology, commenced with thorough technology assessment and collaboration with business users, fostering stakeholder engagement. Recognizing the significance of IoT data for robust analytics, the team assessed plant readiness and infrastructure before running the project. Moreover, adopting new technology to the existing process faced some challenges. This initiative followed a phased structure with well-defined milestones to ensure its effectiveness. By implementing this solution, they succeeded in gaining almost 2 million USD in the first year, then increased to more than 3 million USD and 6 million USD in the second and third year, respectively.
