AI Security, Exploring DevOps use-cases with an eye for security
Large language models are making a big impact in our industries, and there is plenty to see and learn at AWC about AI. This session offers a plain-language refresher on how they actually work, covering tokens, context windows, agents, MCP servers, and tools as a backdrop for a discussion on the risks of integrating AI into our control networks. Prompt injection, data exfiltration, and the broader cyber-security implications of these powerful new LLMs must remain top of mind as we explore use cases beyond simple data analytics. Jake is a 25+ year veteran in the critical infrastructure SCADA space, who will review what we need to do to remain security conscious in this new age.

Jake Hawkes
Jake Hawkes is a Sr. Product Manager with AVEVA with over 23 years of SCADA experience, starting his career as an intern with a pipeline operator in Australia. He joined Telvent in 2000 as a Developer Analyst, and has held positions in Customer Support, Technical Sales, Proposal Support, Project Leadership and now Product Management. He co-founded an integrator startup, and has worked in industries such as Oil & Gas, Water, Transportation, Agriculture and Weather Systems. Jake obtained a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of South Australia in Computer Systems.
