AVEVA Mechanical Equipment Interface
Efficient 3D design transfer between 3D MCAD systems and AVEVA PDMS or Outfitting
AVEVA Mechanical Equipment Interface is a STEP AP203-compliant, bi-directional interface for the efficient exchange of 3D CAD models between AVEVA PDMS or Outfitting and leading 3D MCAD systems. One of AVEVA’s growing range of data interoperability solutions, it meets the practising designer’s need for a reliable 3D design exchange solution which complies with a widely-supported and effective industry standard.
- Complies with STEP AP203, a widely-supported international standard for 3D CAD model exchange.
- Works with the major 3D MCAD systems, such as Inventor, Catia, Pro/ENGINEER or SolidWorks 2009.
- Reliable and intuitive to use, enabling a designer to concentrate on key design issues instead of file translation.
- Mechanical Equipment Interface is a practical tool for designers, not an added burden for system administrators.
- Imported models may be unnecessarily complex. AVEVA Mechanical Equipment Interface allows the designer to quickly search, select and hide unnecessary components.
- Complex shapes may be replaced with geometric primitives and have multiple display levels and representations applied to them.
- An imported 3D model becomes a native AVEVA PDMS or Outfitting object, exposed to all the relevant AVEVA Plant or Marine functionalities.
- Users can apply attributes to the model, change its display levels, add or modify obstruction volumes, share it across multiple sites using AVEVA Global, include it in drawings and reports, and so on.
- Major equipment models may also be imported as sub-assemblies, which enables animation to be applied in AVEVA Review for tasks such as installation or replacement planning.
- Separately licensable modules perform file import and export. Many users will require only file import; the export capability enables design communication with any AP203-compliant third-party software.
