AVEVA Recognized as a top Hydrocarbon Processing Industry Innovator in Two Categories Among 100 Nominations Globally
London, UK: October 16, 2020: Energy industry professionals from around the world gathered at the virtual 2020 Hydrocarbon Processing Awards earlier this month, where AVEVA was recognized for the most innovative technological advances in the hydrocarbon processing industry in two categories.
In this year’s ‘Best Health, Safety or Environmental Contribution’ category, AVEVA won the award for its ‘Operations Mastery Project’. The project aligns with AVEVA's Connected Worker strategy by putting the needs and expectations of individual asset operators first. AVEVA’s cloud-based training enables Shell to train their team in a virtual reality (VR) environment that helps each individual to build a deep understanding by practicing operating procedures in a safe environment. The AVEVA VR system takes a behavioral approach, in which operators can be trained and evaluated on decision-making and real-time choices when faced with unexpected or infrequent situations in the simulated plant. Using real-life scenarios, these best-in-class tools help instill responsible behavior and boost safety performance across assets and teams.
Additionally, AVEVA Real-Time Crude, received the ‘Best Instrument Technology’ award. Developed with Schneider Electric, Real-Time Crude enables customers to understand how crude oil pricing is affecting their value chain using live market data. Part of AVEVA’s Unified Supply Chain solution, AVEVA Real-Time Crude provides timely and accurate crude oil quality information, enabling companies to manage volatile energy prices with agility and empowering oil-purchasing teams with the real-time insight they need to optimize their supply chain.
Commenting on the awards, Ravi Gopinath, Chief Cloud Officer and Chief Product Officer at AVEVA, said, “With today’s fluctuating oil prices and volatile markets, we are delighted that Real-Time Crude, which addresses many of the issues plaguing the energy industry, has been recognized for delivering fast information on crude quality to improve efficiency, reliability and agile decision making. We are also immensely proud of our work with Shell’s adoption of virtual technologies which are critical at this time to improve workforce safety. It was inspiring to see so many technology advancements recognized in this industry, and I’d like to extend my congratulations to all our fellow winners.”
The awards recognized innovation in 15 categories including technological advances in the hydrocarbon processing industry which are enabling refinery, petrochemical and gas processing/LNG operators to optimize their operations and increase safety, efficiency, profitability and sustainability.
More than 100 nominations were submitted from more than a dozen countries globally. Each category was voted on by an independent Hydrocarbon Processing advisory board. We are also honored that AVEVA technology was a finalist in a further 5 categories:
- Best AR/VR/AI Technology Finalist —AI-Driven Predictive Maintenance Platform – AVEVA
