My apprenticeship journey at AVEVA
Posted: October 01, 2025

When I left school at 16, I began my career at a company providing language services, with an apprenticeship in business administration. After completing my apprenticeship, I spent some time working in a pub, where I discovered how much I genuinely enjoyed connecting with people.
The experience sparked a new professional interest for me, so when I saw the Talent Acquisition Apprenticeship opportunity at AVEVA on LinkedIn, I knew it was the perfect fit, combining my interest in HR with my passion for building relationships and making meaningful connections.
The recruitment process at AVEVA was smooth, and everyone I interacted with made a great impression on me. I felt like it was a place where I could genuinely grow, and I really connected to AVEVA’s values and their work in sustainability.
My role in the Talent Acquisition team has been split between early careers and experienced hire recruitment. In the first few months, I was processing thousands of CVs, sending assessments, and scheduling interviews. Later, I moved into sourcing candidates and managing internal stakeholders. It’s been action-packed, and I’ve learned so much.
Balancing work and study was tough at first, but AVEVA has been incredibly supportive. I get Fridays to focus on college, and having a buddy who’s also studying makes a big difference.
It’s great to see how many people here are genuinely interested in what it means to be an apprentice. The culture at AVEVA is welcoming and flexible, with a real focus on well-being. I’ve had the chance to speak up in meetings, contribute to projects, and connect with senior leaders. That’s not something I expected, but it’s helped me build the courage to dive in and share my ideas.
If you’re thinking about an apprenticeship, my best piece of advice is to set clear boundaries for your study time. I do this by completely switching off from work and focusing fully on studying—no checking emails or Teams messages.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to finish my apprenticeship and take full ownership of my work—managing my own requisitions from start to finish and continuing to develop at AVEVA.
I’ve found my place here, and I’m ready for what’s next.
