Emerson’s relationship with AVEVA began more than 20 years ago when it first chose to embed the AVEVA™ PI System™ as a historian for its control systems and enterprise-wide data infrastructure.
The Advanced Continuous Historian (ACH) can collect data from all Emerson hardware, whether it’s a large control system or a single sensor. Through advanced joint development, those insights can now be shared via AVEVA PI System across the enterprise or the cloud in real time.
The ACH is fully integrated into Emerson’s engineering and operations environments. It is highly scalable and can store years of operational data, making it accessible to a wide range of Emerson and AVEVA client applications.
"This extended agreement ensures that Emerson continues years of incorporating premium offerings from [AVEVA] around the globe” October 2006, Automation.com (a subsidiary of the International Society of Automation )

Joint Solutions
Advanced Continuous Historian (powered by the AVEVA PI System) provides highly scalable storage of continuous process data for a single DeltaV™ DCS. It supports data back-fill, connects to a limited set of both DeltaV and AVEVA application clients and can natively integrate with a site AVEVA PI System.
Enterprise Historian (powered by the AVEVA PI System) is an AVEVA PI Server installed on a DeltaV and/or non-DeltaV PC, either on the L2 plant/process LAN or L3 layer. An Enterprise Historian is an alternative to the Advanced Continuous Historian for customers who need a full-featured historian that spans multiple control networks and supports the full suite of AVEVA visualization tools.
