Enterprise Wide PI System
Novartis has been using the PI System for over 20 years and on 30 sites to gain insight on manufacturing. The use of the PI System has been evolving over the years and the key challenge is to provide more standardized global services across the sites. Three initiatives with OT & IT collaboration have been put in place to drive this. A Golden Image process to standardize deployments across the Novartis network. A Global PI System infrastructure to enable a shared infrastructure for Manufacturing sites. Integration workflows with other line of business systems. Leveraging these initiatives and the PI System has allowed Novartis to reduce the time to market for their products.

Alister Geary
Alister has worked in Novartis Global Manufacturing IT in Dublin for the last 3 years. He has been working on the deployment and IT operational support for Novartis PI historian systems around the world. Prior to this he worked in TQS Integration in Ireland for 9 years as a Senior Software Engineer, working as a Technical expert and Project manager on Historian deployments, integration of the historian to OT equipment and building reports based on manufacturing data for companies in the Life Sciences & Power Industries. He holds Degrees in Physics & Instrumentation and Electronics from Munster Technological University.
