Reimagining the AVEVA MES portfolio to support the transformation objectives of modern enterprises

My name is, Tom Troy. I'm, VP of the, what we call the operations and execution segment. So that part of the portfolio in Aviva is where, we have all of our MAS offerings. So, today, our intent is to give you a little peek into, you know, kind of our investment our strategy and investment, going forward here over the next twelve to eighteen months. And, so, let's get kicked off here. So I think, you know, the first thing I always like to do is is kind of put some context, you know, around our MES offering in terms of, you know, the, the problems, you know, that it helps our customers solve out there. And when you take a look at, you know, kind of the, I'll say some of the classic value drivers for, transformation acceleration, you know, starting with, you know, improving manufacturing agility, right on through, you know, sustainable manufacturing, improving operational performance. All those elements are, you know, what I would call core capabilities of our MES. So, you know, of course, we're, you know, we're proud of our MES, and we always like to say that, you know, we're always the, you know, kind of the centerpiece of, you know, of a lot of our customers' transformation, activities and investments here. But as I said, just wanna give you, you know, that context when we when we think about MES and how it really kinda plays into a lot of these transformational, you know, projects that are occurring, you know, in our customers' organizations here. We see us as as kinda being front and center there. So one of the things I wanted to do is I said, you know, that I'm responsible for our operations and execution segment, which is our MAS portfolio. And, I think a lot of people think that Aviva MAS is the only thing we have in the portfolio, but, just to give you a, you know, kind of a little quick, summary of what we, you know, kind of put under under the MAS portfolio, kind of starts with our, you know, our our batch and our recipe management offerings. So we consider those as, you know, kind of part of our execution offering here. I you know, a lot of you in the room I know are familiar with, you know, with these offerings here. The batch management is is probably the most mature offering that I have, in, in the port in in my portfolio in terms of MES here. But, you know, for very, you know, kind of complex batch operations here, you know, we typically will bring forward this technology. Some people will say, can you do some batch capabilities in our MES? And the answer is yes. Right? So a lot of times, you know, we'll look at the complexity of a solution and and determine what's the, you know, the the proper tool or offering in the portfolio, to bring forward here. The recipe management offering, this is where we were going for what I would call kind of the lower end of the market here. So very simple, you know, kind of formula management, where people are probably not ready for, an MES solution. And sometimes this is a good place to start, to, you know, to get some, some increased operational efficiency, when it comes around to, you know, kind of process and product quality here. So that's part of, you know, what we'll call kind of the bat the batch and recipe management portion of it. And now you get into, you know, the the core part of, of our MES here. And, so at the top there is Aviv MES. As I said, it's the it's the bigger, element, I would say, in our, MES offering here. It's very much targeted towards what we call hybrid, type manufacturing operations for so for our customers who, some of them may be in food and beverage or consumer products or even, specialty chemicals where your processes are kind of a mix. You may have some maybe some small batch, maybe a little bit of continuous, and then maybe you got some discrete on the back end when you're putting thing in packages. This is what, this MES has really been built for. Anybody who's familiar with the MES market, people will say that MES is is very, kind of, segmented, and it's true. Right? So depending on the industry, if you go into aerospace or you go into automotive, you have very particular MES vendors, right, that build capability. So, so the message here is that, you know, we're more, I'll say, well suited for, you know, for those hybrid environments. Can we go into discrete? We can. But, you know, I just wanna be very transparent in terms of the investment and what we do well. Those are really the, the markets that we play in well. With that said, you'll see, production management at the bottom here. And, so this is another MES offering. If you guys may know it from its previous name, we, you know, we used to call it AMPLA and, still do. I saw Rob McGreevey, slip up there on the stage this morning and and refer to it as AMPLA. But this is an MAS solution that is targeted at, really more continuous, type processes. In particular, you'll see us, a lot of our customers are in the mining industry, and, so a very, you know, kind of purpose built application for continuous. So we don't try to take Aviva MES into mining, and we don't try to take production management into, you know, consumer products or or any sort of, you know, hybrid type of, manufacturing processes. So they're they're really purpose built for, you know, those types of industry there. In the middle, you see, what we refer to as our our model driven application content. This is model driven is our approach with AVEVA MES, and what we do is we've kinda separated what we call the application content from really what I'll call kind of the core MES capabilities. And the reason for that is, you know, to give our customers the flexibility to really kind of model, you know, I'll say their their I call them their business roles, but it's really their business practices on the plant floor as well as the user experience. Right? That's what model driven is about, is giving you a a low code way to ensure that we ultimately meet your business needs down there on the plant floor. And then, I would say, wrapping up the, the menu here or the menu, the, portfolio, we have you know, I refer to these as my, companion applications, and these meaning they get deployed along with MES. Right? So, so you'll see at the top there is work task, and work task is is a, you know, an application that we employ with our MES technology. So you'll see that, when you when you purchase our Viva MES, you're gonna you're gonna get that technology. Our enterprise integration, again, you know, MES, you're always integrating, you know, up, down, sideways. Right? And so our enterprise enterprise, integration is just there, to satisfy that need we have for, for our MES solutions. And then last but not least is production and planning, and this is a partner application. Right? So we've, we chose to partner with a company called Planet Together, and, so they round out, you know, that gap that we had in our portfolio around production planning. So that gives you a sense of, you know, today, as I talk about the road map, I'm really I'm talking about kind of the broader portfolio, so you're not gonna see me calling out any specifics around production management or, you know, AVEVA MES. And the reason is, is because there, you're gonna see a lot of our investments are common, right, across, our, MES portfolio. So let's get into that and and kinda understand why. So I always start off with, I'm I'm a really good, I I I tell my other portfolio colleagues that I'm always out there, helping them, you know, with with their with their applications and and talking about, you know, kind of what we're doing in terms of a broader sense. So on this particular slide here, the one thing that I wanted to drive home, and you've you've heard, you know, some of us here this morning as as you attended, the session, that was, you know, led by Rob. Rob was talking a lot about Connect here. And, so what you heard here in, probably about midway through, Rob was talking about how we're, we're using Connect to really extend the value of our existing portfolio. Right? And that's what I'm gonna kinda describe to you here. So I'm gonna give you so Rob was kind of, you know, calling out some use cases here, but this is what we're doing from an MES perspective. So if you look on the left hand side, really kinda reflects, you know, all of the, if you look at all of the portfolio entities, you know, that sit inside of the bigger Aviva portfolio, they really, you know, came from, you know, I would say kind of three, you know, acquisitions or, you know, we'll just call them acquisitions for now. So the the original what I call the original, Aviva, right, which was the engineering tools, of course, OSI PI here in Wonderware. And if you look at all of those applications, one of the things that I say is we do a lot of things in common in terms we collect data. You know, we visualize data. In some cases, we're even doing maybe some simple analytics or or maybe complex analytics or something, you know, that we refer to as advanced analytics. And that's all well and great, but, you know, we've heard very loud and clear, from our customer community that, you know, you get a different experience. So if I'm, you know, pulling data out of a a PI server versus pulling data out of my MES server, those are two dramatically different experiences. And we said, you know what? We can make a much better experience for our customers. When when you take a look at data, you take a look at visualization, and you take a look at analytics. And we said, why don't we make those as common cloud services? And what that'll do is that'll drive a very consistent experience for our customers because we know you're all very focused on data, right, trying to do more with the data that we're collecting, you know, in our various portfolio entities. And, so the idea with the cloud is to use these services to now take, you know, the data that we're collecting in our various portfolio entities and giving you a nice, consistent experience. Right? So this is, you know, my perspective that I wanted to share with you. As I said, you're gonna hear a lot about Connect. Heard some this morning here, but kinda bringing it into context with how are we taking, you know, these investments that you've made over the years in our portfolio. How's the cloud delivering capabilities that's making it even better? And that's that's what you're seeing with Connect here. So with that said, what are we doing? So let's get right into, you know, kind of the MES portfolio. And, I, you know, I like to keep things simple, in terms of, you know, the we have really two major initiatives, that we're, executing on. And, they start with really kind of what I've been describing here, over the past, you know, in the previous slide here is really you'll hear me talking about we're transitioning our MES on premise, applications. Right? All of them. Right? Recipe, batch, you know, Veeva MES, production management. Right? So I'll continue to repeat that. And what we're doing is we're we're transitioning those to hybrid, cloud offerings. And so you say, okay. What is that? Okay. Just as I talked about, a hybrid cloud offering pretty much says, hey. You've got an on premise element of your solution that's down there running in in in the in your plants. And then we're leveraging the cloud, you know, to deliver more capabilities or or deliver, I'll say, more value, for you, and those are running in the cloud. So, essentially, what's happening is you're seeing a lot of our solutions now are starting to transition where, you know, they've got a cloud element, and now, you know, they also have their, you know, traditional on prem, which, you know, they've had for many, many years. So that's what hybrid means when you hear us talking about hybrid applications. So across our MAS portfolio, we're transitioning. Right? So we're transitioning from kind of our, you know, just solely on premise, installation to a hybrid offering. The next thing we're working on and we're just starting to get rolling with this is we're reimagining, and and that's a keyword anybody's heard me present. I always, you know, stop there and pause on reimagining. So reimagining, Aviva MES capabilities, again, across the portfolio. Right? Batch, you know, recipe, product, you know, production management, Aviva MES. We're reimagining those capabilities on the cloud. And, so I think people say, why? What does that mean? And it's and you say, well, you know, when we go to the cloud, we have a new platform. Right? We have a new way to go, you know, deliver MES capabilities. Does that mean I'm gonna go out? We're gonna throw ISA ninety five out the window. I'm gonna redefine everything an MES does now. So from a functional perspective, you know, the, you know, production operations, quality operations, the inventory operations, those those will continue. Right? So we'll deliver that scope of capability on the cloud. But what you'll see is when we reimagine, again, it's gonna be back to this, experience that we want you to have. Right? So this single unified experience. Right? You know, I'll re repeat that probably a couple more times as I go through. So some of that reimagining is you know, has us, you know, really kind of building what I will call a next generation MAS here. And I'll describe you know, I'll give you, you know, kind of the architecture that we're envisioning so you can kinda see where we're going there. So I'm gonna so I'm gonna talk about these two initiatives now. So let's talk a little bit about the transitioning, transitioning our MES to to hybrid cloud apps. So today, you saw a you know, you heard a little bit about Connect here. You heard about, you know, some of the, you know, what we're envisioning and what we're, intending to deliver in the market here. So I'm just gonna go down, like, a little bit of a a level deeper, as I describe how we're gonna turn our MES into hybrid applications here. And when you look at Connect, today, you know, there's, you know, these, what I'll call kind of five core, platform services here. And, from service management to data services to visualization to analytics and then to this application development services here. And these are all in different, I would say, states of maturity, analytics being very mature, on the scale here. I would say data services is, you know, kinda right up there. Visualization, you're starting to see some of the the newer capabilities. You'll you'll see it all out there in the expo. Some of the development experience, the development services, again, are more along, I would say, the same maturity curve as as visualization here. So the services will continue, to mature. You can see all of these, you know, out in the expo today. But what are we doing with MES with all these services? So what we're doing is we're integrating to so we're building native integration to this. Right? So I'm not turning people loose and saying, hey. We got all these great services. I've got this MES here. Go have fun. You know? Go go figure out how to put it together. No. That's that's not what we're doing. So a lot of what you're gonna hear is some of the investment that we've already made, and I'll describe, you know, kinda what's out there. So we have, a release in the market already for hybrid. But, what you should feel good about is that we're just natively integrating these into the MES experience. So in some cases, I'll measure our success on that. You don't even feel like there's a cloud service out there being used. Right? It should just feel like when you come in, you configure your MES. You know, the the cloud element shouldn't feel like, you know, that you had to walk over there and do something. Right? The cloud element should be something that if we, you know, we make our investments correctly here, you know, you just have a nice experience in MES, and you don't realize that your data's going to a data service, that it's running through some analytics, and maybe there's, you know, some sort of optimization that comes back and gets handed to an operator. Right? That's the kind of integration, that that you're gonna see here. What does that look like? Give you a little bit more of, you know, kind of a market texture here. So you see at the bottom, you know, I list, you know, what I'll call kind of our four core, MES, portfolio entities here. And, you know, one of the first things that, that we did here is we actually worked with the data services team, and, we had them extend the back end to to be able to, persist, structured data here. And, so that was an investment that was made that's complete now. Right? So we're able to now to take our our MES, which is very structured data, and we're able to to put that into, into data services. Okay. But what have we really done there? What we've done is so we know our data structures across all of our, MES offerings here. And so what we provide is out of the box schema, right, for for data services. So when you onboard any of my MES applications here, we automatically just we programmatically just, create the schema into data services, and then, all of our historical data, essentially gets pushed up to, up up into, Connect data services there. So that's an investment, you know, that we made is, you know, again, working with the the, data services team, creating that back end that can store contextual data. The other thing we built is some content for what we call the visualization service. Right? So connect visualization service. And, again, what we want is we're we're not trying to compete or build something, you know, that competes with a, you know, a Power BI or a Tableau. Our idea here is, you know, back to this theme of we're trying to, help our customers, you know, do more with their data, and we want more people, to do more things with their data, not just have one person there that knows how to go write queries and pull MES data out. So when you look at the experience that we wanna create in in connect visualization services is we want an experience where you can go in there and you're not a programmer. Right? But you know how to click and drag stuff and say, I wanna get, you know, the the utilization events from, you know, this particular piece of equipment, and you're off and running. Right? So that's the experience that we're looking to drive is that we're really kinda dumbing down, the the knowledge it takes. You don't have to know where the data's stored. The only thing you have to know is kinda what it's called. So it says track and trace data or it's inventory data or quality data. If you if you got it at that level, you're off and running here. Right? So you can build these, these visual experiences that, will ultimately, you know, help you, drive your outcomes here. Lastly, from, from, services, you know, we call it the connect services adoption. Essentially, what we're doing here is analytics. And if you're if you're familiar with our advanced analytics offerings, you know, one of the things that, is really, exciting here for us is when you take a look at we have what they call out of the box models. Right? And these are all about getting our customers, up and running in, you know, on their analytics journey. It's a big journey. Trust me. And, well, I know a lot of you are on and and you kinda know what you're up against here. It's a big journey. We're trying to speed that up. And look, MES data is great, data. Right? We take a look at all the context, that we collect around, you know, products and and equipment and, you know, all of that genealogy. Right? That that becomes very useful information, to a lot of these out of the box models that we have up there. So you look at there's models for, uptime optimization. Right? So we've got utilization data we can pump in there, downtime or, throughput optimization. Right? So MES has all of that throughput information by product, by, you know, by equipment, all that context. It's it's got, you know, something we call perfect quality. Right? So MES got quality data. So as we looked at those different models, we said, how can we make it really easy, again, for our customers to get up and running with these models? So the investment that we're making here is, you know, we're kind of preintegrating this so that what should happen in your, onboarding experience for analytics if you're using MES, you know, you'll you'll go through a wizard that will go down, will pull, you know, the m the, you know, the appropriate, MES data. So depending on the model you select there, And it brings it into, you know, the digital twin that our analytics sits on top of. So the whole you know, as I said, the whole premise here is that, you know, we wanna just, you know, make it easy. You know, I again, you know, we could turn you loose today. You could write queries and pull data out, but the whole idea here is we wanna accelerate that journey. So those are the, what I'll say kind of, you know, the three connect services that we're adopting that is essentially transitioning, you know, our MES offerings into, hybrid offerings. The last thing I wanted to mention, it's another important item here, is for all the products, what we've done is we've, we're creating we call it a curation service. Right? So, as, you know, as history is being accumulated, you know, we need to get that sent up to up to data services. And, so so we made an investment there. So, again, customers don't have to worry about, well, how do I get your utilization data up there and say it's done? You know, we've we've made that investment for you. So you'll see in each one of our products says we make them hybrid. You'll see this, curation services is one of the investments that we made there. Okay. So, the, the last thing I wanted to touch on here so I said two major initiatives. One was, you know, taking and converting our, on premise into a hybrid, and then I said, hey. Now we're gonna go reimagine MES here. And, and I said, you know, we're gonna do things different, right, because, you know, we wanna ensure that, you know, we have this consistent experience here. And, so a lot of you know, I'm gonna continue on this, adoption, theme here. Right? So for hybrid, we were adopting data, visualization, analytics. As we go in and we think about next generation MES here, what we're gonna do is we're gonna adopt, you know, in some cases, you know, some of the services I've already talked about. So think about MES now. So today, you know, we we deliver out of the box content that, you know, you can assemble into your application. So now when we go to the cloud, you know, I talked about our visualization services as a common place where, you know, we assemble content. So whether it's MES content or historian content or, engineering documents, whatever the case may be. Right? That's that's really what visualization services is intended to do here. And so we're we're gonna just continue to adopt that. So, again, the experience is, you know, if you're building content, whether it's more dashboard y or it's or it's a true application, same experience. Right? We're not gonna take you into a different environment. So that's the the first thing that you're gonna see us do. The second thing we're gonna do is we're gonna adopt, what we call application services. So think about when I was showing you my portfolio. I say, hey. We had, you know, an integration service. You saw a workflow, which delivers some of the collaboration capability that we deliver in MES today. So now when we go to the cloud, we're not gonna do that for specifically for MES. We say everybody needs that. Everybody needs to, you know, integrate to to SAP. Everybody needs, Everybody needs, you know, alerts, notifications. So you can see as we go to the cloud, you know, there's a big push that, you know, we develop these common services. So whether I'm running a SCADA application and, you know, I configure alerts and notifications or I'm running my MES and I configure alerts and notifications, it's the same experience. Shouldn't be different. Right? So that's, that's another, I would say, kind of adoption that you're gonna see as we go to our, this native cloud MES. And then what are we doing that is more geared towards MES? Well, this is where you know, we'll build those domain services. So as I said, we're, we're not gonna redefine MES. Still does production ops, quality ops, inventory ops. So those will be available and, you know, that the way that they get consumed to build an application, right, there'll be a different, you know, experience for that. So, hopefully, you know, you're gaining a sense of, you know, what we intend to do here, in terms of, you know, moving to, you know, kind of a next generation cloud here. So this just gives you a little sense of the, the timelines. So the first thing that I would call out here is Aviva MES and production management already have, we have released to the market, some hybrid capabilities. So I encourage you, you know, to to go to the booth out here and, and take a look. Jeff Barkahani, I I know Jeff's in here somewhere. Jeff has a presentation later today. Well, he'll actually go into that in-depth if you wanna kinda see what we're doing. So we're gonna continue to make more investment for for hybrid MES in terms of, you know, the data that we're pumping up there. The visualization elements that we've created will just continue to either improve them or bring new ones to the market there. And then you see batch and recipe management, which is coming next in terms of, you know, turning those into hybrid. So MAS production management, they're there already. Batch and recipe are on their way. In terms of the analytics, you see these timelines are coming up here in count calendar year twenty five. I said we wanna make it really easy to consume these out of the box models. This is what you're seeing here, uptime throughput models, perfect production, perfect quality. Go learn about those. Right? There's there's sessions here, for advanced analytics where you'll learn about what those models can do. But the whole idea here is we're gonna, you know, prewire our MES data in there. This is just a sense of, you know, the cloud timelines here and and some of the, you know, the way we're gonna kinda break down the content. As I said, we're just getting started here. I don't wanna go into a whole lot of detail because, you know, some things could move around, but I just wanted to let you know we're kicked off. We're running here. You're gonna start to see some things, you know, calendar year twenty five. You know, you'll see a lot of, you know, a lot of progress start to take place here. So, again, if you're more interested in learning more about, you know, what some of these execution capabilities, Are we gonna be able to run them at the edge? Are we gonna be able to run them at, you know, run them just in the cloud so you can learn more about that, you know, later this week here, as, we're passing in the hall or you see me standing at the booth there. So just, you know, key takeaways here. You know, so hopefully, you know, you're seeing this, you know, this this investment where we're trying to help our customers, you know, accelerate this digital transformation, and we know data is a big part of this. You're seeing with the, you know, kind of the next the reimagined MES, really the, you know, kinda improving that that time to value with, you know, with the hybrid cloud approach. You know? So very excited about where where we go there. And then, you know, the last bullet really being around, you know, we are laser focused on helping you drive more value out of your data. Right? So bringing our very diverse dataset, you know, into a data service where it's contextualized, that will ultimately help you, you know, drive, you know, more advanced outcomes with, the application of AI here. So that concludes, my presentation here, and, I'm looking at my watch here. I know I, ran up against, the clock, but, happy to take a couple questions.

If you guys may know it from its previous name, we, you know, we used to call it AMPLA and, still do. I saw Rob McGreevey, slip up there on the stage this morning and and refer to it as AMPLA. But this is an MAS solution that is targeted at, really more continuous, type processes.

In particular, you'll see us, a lot of our customers are in the mining industry, and, so a very, you know, kind of purpose built application for continuous.

So we don't try to take Aviva MES into mining, and we don't try to take production management into, you know, consumer products or or any sort of, you know, hybrid type of, manufacturing processes. So they're they're really purpose built for, you know, those types of industry there. In the middle, you see, what we refer to as our our model driven application content. This is model driven is our approach with AVEVA MES, and what we do is we've kinda separated what we call the application content from really what I'll call kind of the core MES capabilities.

And the reason for that is, you know, to give our customers the flexibility to really kind of model, you know, I'll say their their I call them their business roles, but it's really their business practices on the plant floor as well as the user experience. Right? That's what model driven is about, is giving you a a low code way to ensure that we ultimately meet your business needs down there on the plant floor.

And then, I would say, wrapping up the, the menu here or the menu, the, portfolio, we have you know, I refer to these as my, companion applications, and these meaning they get deployed along with MES. Right? So, so you'll see at the top there is work task, and work task is is a, you know, an application that we employ with our MES technology.

So you'll see that, when you when you purchase our Viva MES, you're gonna you're gonna get that technology. Our enterprise integration, again, you know, MES, you're always integrating, you know, up, down, sideways. Right? And so our enterprise enterprise, integration is just there, to satisfy that need we have for, for our MES solutions. And then last but not least is production and planning, and this is a partner application. Right? So we've, we chose to partner with a company called Planet Together, and, so they round out, you know, that gap that we had in our portfolio around production planning.

So that gives you a sense of, you know, today, as I talk about the road map, I'm really I'm talking about kind of the broader portfolio, so you're not gonna see me calling out any specifics around production management or, you know, AVEVA MES. And the reason is, is because there, you're gonna see a lot of our investments are common, right, across, our, MES portfolio.

So let's get into that and and kinda understand why.

So I always start off with, I'm I'm a really good, I I I tell my other portfolio colleagues that I'm always out there, helping them, you know, with with their with their applications and and talking about, you know, kind of what we're doing in terms of a broader sense.

So on this particular slide here, the one thing that I wanted to drive home, and you've you've heard, you know, some of us here this morning as as you attended, the session, that was, you know, led by Rob. Rob was talking a lot about Connect here.

And, so what you heard here in, probably about midway through, Rob was talking about how we're, we're using Connect to really extend the value of our existing portfolio.

Right? And that's what I'm gonna kinda describe to you here. So I'm gonna give you so Rob was kind of, you know, calling out some use cases here, but this is what we're doing from an MES perspective. So if you look on the left hand side, really kinda reflects, you know, all of the, if you look at all of the portfolio entities, you know, that sit inside of the bigger Aviva portfolio, they really, you know, came from, you know, I would say kind of three, you know, acquisitions or, you know, we'll just call them acquisitions for now. So the the original what I call the original, Aviva, right, which was the engineering tools, of course, OSI PI here in Wonderware. And if you look at all of those applications, one of the things that I say is we do a lot of things in common in terms we collect data. You know, we visualize data.

In some cases, we're even doing maybe some simple analytics or or maybe complex analytics or something, you know, that we refer to as advanced analytics.

And that's all well and great, but, you know, we've heard very loud and clear, from our customer community that, you know, you get a different experience. So if I'm, you know, pulling data out of a a PI server versus pulling data out of my MES server, those are two dramatically different experiences.

And we said, you know what? We can make a much better experience for our customers.

When when you take a look at data, you take a look at visualization, and you take a look at analytics.

And we said, why don't we make those as common cloud services?

And what that'll do is that'll drive a very consistent experience for our customers because we know you're all very focused on data, right, trying to do more with the data that we're collecting, you know, in our various portfolio entities.

And, so the idea with the cloud is to use these services to now take, you know, the data that we're collecting in our various portfolio entities and giving you a nice, consistent experience. Right? So this is, you know, my perspective that I wanted to share with you. As I said, you're gonna hear a lot about Connect. Heard some this morning here, but kinda bringing it into context with how are we taking, you know, these investments that you've made over the years in our portfolio. How's the cloud delivering capabilities that's making it even better? And that's that's what you're seeing with Connect here.

So with that said, what are we doing? So let's get right into, you know, kind of the MES portfolio.

And, I, you know, I like to keep things simple, in terms of, you know, the we have really two major initiatives, that we're, executing on. And, they start with really kind of what I've been describing here, over the past, you know, in the previous slide here is really you'll hear me talking about we're transitioning our MES on premise, applications. Right? All of them.

Right? Recipe, batch, you know, Veeva MES, production management. Right? So I'll continue to repeat that.

And what we're doing is we're we're transitioning those to hybrid, cloud offerings.

And so you say, okay. What is that? Okay. Just as I talked about, a hybrid cloud offering pretty much says, hey.

You've got an on premise element of your solution that's down there running in in in the in your plants. And then we're leveraging the cloud, you know, to deliver more capabilities or or deliver, I'll say, more value, for you, and those are running in the cloud. So, essentially, what's happening is you're seeing a lot of our solutions now are starting to transition where, you know, they've got a cloud element, and now, you know, they also have their, you know, traditional on prem, which, you know, they've had for many, many years. So that's what hybrid means when you hear us talking about hybrid applications.

So across our MAS portfolio, we're transitioning. Right? So we're transitioning from kind of our, you know, just solely on premise, installation to a hybrid offering. The next thing we're working on and we're just starting to get rolling with this is we're reimagining, and and that's a keyword anybody's heard me present. I always, you know, stop there and pause on reimagining.

So reimagining, Aviva MES capabilities, again, across the portfolio. Right? Batch, you know, recipe, product, you know, production management, Aviva MES. We're reimagining those capabilities on the cloud.

And, so I think people say, why? What does that mean? And it's and you say, well, you know, when we go to the cloud, we have a new platform. Right? We have a new way to go, you know, deliver MES capabilities.

Does that mean I'm gonna go out? We're gonna throw ISA ninety five out the window. I'm gonna redefine everything an MES does now. So from a functional perspective, you know, the, you know, production operations, quality operations, the inventory operations, those those will continue. Right? So we'll deliver that scope of capability on the cloud.

But what you'll see is when we reimagine, again, it's gonna be back to this, experience that we want you to have. Right? So this single unified experience. Right? You know, I'll re repeat that probably a couple more times as I go through. So some of that reimagining is you know, has us, you know, really kind of building what I will call a next generation MAS here. And I'll describe you know, I'll give you, you know, kind of the architecture that we're envisioning so you can kinda see where we're going there.

So I'm gonna so I'm gonna talk about these two initiatives now. So let's talk a little bit about the transitioning, transitioning our MES to to hybrid cloud apps.

So today, you saw a you know, you heard a little bit about Connect here. You heard about, you know, some of the, you know, what we're envisioning and what we're, intending to deliver in the market here. So I'm just gonna go down, like, a little bit of a a level deeper, as I describe how we're gonna turn our MES into hybrid applications here. And when you look at Connect, today, you know, there's, you know, these, what I'll call kind of five core, platform services here. And, from service management to data services to visualization to analytics and then to this application development services here. And these are all in different, I would say, states of maturity, analytics being very mature, on the scale here.

I would say data services is, you know, kinda right up there. Visualization, you're starting to see some of the the newer capabilities. You'll you'll see it all out there in the expo.

Some of the development experience, the development services, again, are more along, I would say, the same maturity curve as as visualization here. So the services will continue, to mature. You can see all of these, you know, out in the expo today. But what are we doing with MES with all these services?

So what we're doing is we're integrating to so we're building native integration to this. Right? So I'm not turning people loose and saying, hey. We got all these great services.

I've got this MES here.

Go have fun. You know? Go go figure out how to put it together. No. That's that's not what we're doing. So a lot of what you're gonna hear is some of the investment that we've already made, and I'll describe, you know, kinda what's out there. So we have, a release in the market already for hybrid.

But, what you should feel good about is that we're just natively integrating these into the MES experience. So in some cases, I'll measure our success on that. You don't even feel like there's a cloud service out there being used. Right? It should just feel like when you come in, you configure your MES.

You know, the the cloud element shouldn't feel like, you know, that you had to walk over there and do something. Right? The cloud element should be something that if we, you know, we make our investments correctly here, you know, you just have a nice experience in MES, and you don't realize that your data's going to a data service, that it's running through some analytics, and maybe there's, you know, some sort of optimization that comes back and gets handed to an operator. Right?

That's the kind of integration, that that you're gonna see here. What does that look like? Give you a little bit more of, you know, kind of a market texture here. So you see at the bottom, you know, I list, you know, what I'll call kind of our four core, MES, portfolio entities here.

And, you know, one of the first things that, that we did here is we actually worked with the data services team, and, we had them extend the back end to to be able to, persist, structured data here.

And, so that was an investment that was made that's complete now. Right? So we're able to now to take our our MES, which is very structured data, and we're able to to put that into, into data services. Okay. But what have we really done there?

What we've done is so we know our data structures across all of our, MES offerings here. And so what we provide is out of the box schema, right, for for data services. So when you onboard any of my MES applications here, we automatically just we programmatically just, create the schema into data services, and then, all of our historical data, essentially gets pushed up to, up up into, Connect data services there. So that's an investment, you know, that we made is, you know, again, working with the the, data services team, creating that back end that can store contextual data.

The other thing we built is some content for what we call the visualization service. Right? So connect visualization service.

And, again, what we want is we're we're not trying to compete or build something, you know, that competes with a, you know, a Power BI or a Tableau.

Our idea here is, you know, back to this theme of we're trying to, help our customers, you know, do more with their data, and we want more people, to do more things with their data, not just have one person there that knows how to go write queries and pull MES data out. So when you look at the experience that we wanna create in in connect visualization services is we want an experience where you can go in there and you're not a programmer. Right? But you know how to click and drag stuff and say, I wanna get, you know, the the utilization events from, you know, this particular piece of equipment, and you're off and running.

Right? So that's the experience that we're looking to drive is that we're really kinda dumbing down, the the knowledge it takes. You don't have to know where the data's stored. The only thing you have to know is kinda what it's called.

So it says track and trace data or it's inventory data or quality data. If you if you got it at that level, you're off and running here. Right? So you can build these, these visual experiences that, will ultimately, you know, help you, drive your outcomes here.

Lastly, from, from, services, you know, we call it the connect services adoption. Essentially, what we're doing here is analytics. And if you're if you're familiar with our advanced analytics offerings, you know, one of the things that, is really, exciting here for us is when you take a look at we have what they call out of the box models. Right?

And these are all about getting our customers, up and running in, you know, on their analytics journey. It's a big journey. Trust me. And, well, I know a lot of you are on and and you kinda know what you're up against here.

It's a big journey. We're trying to speed that up. And look, MES data is great, data. Right?

We take a look at all the context, that we collect around, you know, products and and equipment and, you know, all of that genealogy. Right? That that becomes very useful information, to a lot of these out of the box models that we have up there. So you look at there's models for, uptime optimization.

Right? So we've got utilization data we can pump in there, downtime or, throughput optimization. Right? So MES has all of that throughput information by product, by, you know, by equipment, all that context.

It's it's got, you know, something we call perfect quality. Right? So MES got quality data. So as we looked at those different models, we said, how can we make it really easy, again, for our customers to get up and running with these models?

So the investment that we're making here is, you know, we're kind of preintegrating this so that what should happen in your, onboarding experience for analytics if you're using MES, you know, you'll you'll go through a wizard that will go down, will pull, you know, the m the, you know, the appropriate, MES data. So depending on the model you select there, And it brings it into, you know, the digital twin that our analytics sits on top of. So the whole you know, as I said, the whole premise here is that, you know, we wanna just, you know, make it easy. You know, I again, you know, we could turn you loose today.

You could write queries and pull data out, but the whole idea here is we wanna accelerate that journey.

So those are the, what I'll say kind of, you know, the three connect services that we're adopting that is essentially transitioning, you know, our MES offerings into, hybrid offerings.

The last thing I wanted to mention, it's another important item here, is for all the products, what we've done is we've, we're creating we call it a curation service. Right? So, as, you know, as history is being accumulated, you know, we need to get that sent up to up to data services. And, so so we made an investment there. So, again, customers don't have to worry about, well, how do I get your utilization data up there and say it's done? You know, we've we've made that investment for you. So you'll see in each one of our products says we make them hybrid.

You'll see this, curation services is one of the investments that we made there.

Okay.

So, the, the last thing I wanted to touch on here so I said two major initiatives. One was, you know, taking and converting our, on premise into a hybrid, and then I said, hey. Now we're gonna go reimagine MES here.

And, and I said, you know, we're gonna do things different, right, because, you know, we wanna ensure that, you know, we have this consistent experience here.

And, so a lot of you know, I'm gonna continue on this, adoption, theme here. Right? So for hybrid, we were adopting data, visualization, analytics.

As we go in and we think about next generation MES here, what we're gonna do is we're gonna adopt, you know, in some cases, you know, some of the services I've already talked about. So think about MES now. So today, you know, we we deliver out of the box content that, you know, you can assemble into your application.

So now when we go to the cloud, you know, I talked about our visualization services as a common place where, you know, we assemble content. So whether it's MES content or historian content or, engineering documents, whatever the case may be. Right? That's that's really what visualization services is intended to do here.

And so we're we're gonna just continue to adopt that. So, again, the experience is, you know, if you're building content, whether it's more dashboard y or it's or it's a true application, same experience. Right? We're not gonna take you into a different environment.

So that's the the first thing that you're gonna see us do.

The second thing we're gonna do is we're gonna adopt, what we call application services. So think about when I was showing you my portfolio. I say, hey. We had, you know, an integration service.

You saw a workflow, which delivers some of the collaboration capability that we deliver in MES today. So now when we go to the cloud, we're not gonna do that for specifically for MES. We say everybody needs that. Everybody needs to, you know, integrate to to SAP.

Everybody needs, Everybody needs, you know, alerts, notifications.

So you can see as we go to the cloud, you know, there's a big push that, you know, we develop these common services. So whether I'm running a SCADA application and, you know, I configure alerts and notifications or I'm running my MES and I configure alerts and notifications, it's the same experience. Shouldn't be different. Right?

So that's, that's another, I would say, kind of adoption that you're gonna see as we go to our, this native cloud MES. And then what are we doing that is more geared towards MES? Well, this is where you know, we'll build those domain services. So as I said, we're, we're not gonna redefine MES.

Still does production ops, quality ops, inventory ops. So those will be available and, you know, that the way that they get consumed to build an application, right, there'll be a different, you know, experience for that. So, hopefully, you know, you're gaining a sense of, you know, what we intend to do here, in terms of, you know, moving to, you know, kind of a next generation cloud here. So this just gives you a little sense of the, the timelines.

So the first thing that I would call out here is Aviva MES and production management already have, we have released to the market, some hybrid capabilities.

So I encourage you, you know, to to go to the booth out here and, and take a look.

Jeff has a presentation later today. Well, he'll actually go into that in-depth if you wanna kinda see what we're doing. So we're gonna continue to make more investment for for hybrid MES in terms of, you know, the data that we're pumping up there.

The visualization elements that we've created will just continue to either improve them or bring new ones to the market there. And then you see batch and recipe management, which is coming next in terms of, you know, turning those into hybrid. So MAS production management, they're there already.

Batch and recipe are on their way. In terms of the analytics, you see these timelines are coming up here in count calendar year twenty five. I said we wanna make it really easy to consume these out of the box models. This is what you're seeing here, uptime throughput models, perfect production, perfect quality. Go learn about those. Right? There's there's sessions here, for advanced analytics where you'll learn about what those models can do.

But the whole idea here is we're gonna, you know, prewire our MES data in there.

This is just a sense of, you know, the cloud timelines here and and some of the, you know, the way we're gonna kinda break down the content.

As I said, we're just getting started here. I don't wanna go into a whole lot of detail because, you know, some things could move around, but I just wanted to let you know we're kicked off. We're running here. You're gonna start to see some things, you know, calendar year twenty five.

You know, you'll see a lot of, you know, a lot of progress start to take place here.

So, again, if you're more interested in learning more about, you know, what some of these execution capabilities, Are we gonna be able to run them at the edge? Are we gonna be able to run them at, you know, run them just in the cloud so you can learn more about that, you know, later this week here, as, we're passing in the hall or you see me standing at the booth there.

So just, you know, key takeaways here. You know, so hopefully, you know, you're seeing this, you know, this this investment where we're trying to help our customers, you know, accelerate this digital transformation, and we know data is a big part of this.

You're seeing with the, you know, kind of the next the reimagined MES, really the, you know, kinda improving that that time to value with, you know, with the hybrid cloud approach. You know? So very excited about where where we go there.

And then, you know, the last bullet really being around, you know, we are laser focused on helping you drive more value out of your data. Right? So bringing our very diverse dataset, you know, into a data service where it's contextualized, that will ultimately help you, you know, drive, you know, more advanced outcomes with, the application of AI here.
