The first step in the strategy is a simulation where we model and capture plant behavior. We engineer and capture the details of the components required to create that behavior.
Next, we design the layout and arrange all the required components. And then we execute to plan and manage the fabrication, installation, and construction of those required components into a plant facility. Finally, we train the operators at the Plant using the digital asset to enable them to understand how to operate in advance of the Plant being built to complete standards.
By adopting a fully data-centric approach, information can be passed from tool-to-tool seamlessly. Teams are aligned around a single source of truth thereby minimizing errors. This improves collaboration and increases transparency between project teams including discipline engineers, contractors. Owner Operators gain greater visibility of how the project is progressing in real-time and are able to make informed decisions to mitigate risk and leverage opportunity.

It will come as little surprise that project participants’ objectives are not always aligned.
For Owners, each project is just a step towards their wider business objectives. They are focused on cost-effectiveness, schedule efficiency, and the forecast of production capability. This allows teams to go beyond just technical data. They can achieve data maturity by building the relationships between each asset's data points and how data interacts with each other.
This results in a single source of truth for all teams working on the project and enables connected decision making – they can trace who has made each change to each asset as the project progresses. The main thing here is that it is possible to generate documents, lists, drawings from the data instead of extracting data from documents, this allows greater consistency and higher quality. Users can view the data to meet their needs without creating a new document. Rather than receiving one, often incomplete package at the end of the project, a data-centric approach enables a continuous flow of information all the way to handover so that the owner for operations is always in the loop.
