AVEVA Hosts Utility Executive Summit on How to Leverage U.S. Infrastructure Bill

Leading Executives Gathering to Discuss Strategies for Grid Modernization and Resiliency

London, UK, 28 June, 2022AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, driving digital transformation and sustainability, today announced it is hosting an Executive Summit with leading industrial executives to discuss the United States’ biggest infrastructure challenges.

A group of electric utility leaders will gather in California on June 27-28, 2022, to share ideas and experiences on the latest strategies and advances for the modernization and resiliency of the grid of the future. The event will not only help identify solutions and opportunities but also shape AVEVA’s products to meet industry challenges.  The following topics will be covered:

  • How to leverage the grid investment to meet industry objectives
  • What industry peers are planning in this area
  • How technology can be the enabler to facilitate grid modernization

The latest Infrastructure Package allocates USD$73 billion for power upgrades, making this the single largest investment in clean energy transmission in United States’ history. This two-day special event will focus on the challenges, solutions and opportunities in the utility sector and how to leverage vital funding from the United States’ Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. It will also be instrumental for AVEVA on how the company can shape its technology direction to respond to these industry demands. Speakers attending include long-time enterprise utility customers of AVEVA’s such as CAISO, ERCOT, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), Portland General Electric, SDG&E, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) and VELCO.

“AVEVA is bringing together electric utility executives from across the United States to align on how best to advance the modernization of the grid,” said Caspar Herzberg, AVEVA Chief Operating Officer. “Our world is changing rapidly. With over 1,000 AVEVA power & utility customers worldwide, we will work together to identify the solutions and opportunities, addressing not only grid challenges, resilience, and electrification of transportation, but also the decentralization and decarbonization of the grid.”

AVEVA is helping customers across the United States modernize operations to improve the electric grid, water infrastructure, bridges, airports, public transport, and more. For example, the San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) is leveraging AVEVA’s technologies as its enterprise data infrastructure and applying advanced analytics and intelligent visualization to not only improve system operations, reliability but also achieve carbon emission goals. Additionally, with AVEVA technologies, Pima County has increased operational efficiency by 50% and reduced overall energy consumption by 10% with its situational awareness and mobile workforce solutions.

“Our goal for this summit is to enable discussions amongst the utility leaders so we learn how to shape our products to meet these industry trends,” said Dr. J. Patrick Kennedy, past CEO and Founder of OSIsoft, Chairman Emeritus and Board Advisor of AVEVA. “The utility industry has become more complex and dynamic than it has ever been. We are optimistic these conversations will help to drive our technology direction and in turn help the utilities achieve their objectives.”
