Social Media Sharing

Social Media Sharing enables the social media icons to display on the page and enables their sharing functionality.

Please note: The social media icons are hosted within AddThis - not within the AEM Assets DAM. (Where are icons hosted since AddThis broke?)

Page Properties Authoring (For Initial Set-up Only)

Follow the steps below to get the social media icons to appear on the page through the Social Media Sharing component. This process needs to be completed only once per website within the home page's Page Properties.

  • Click on Page Properties > Advanced Tab (If configured in parent Page Properties, all the child pages will inherit that script configuration.)
  • Go to "Settings"
  • Go to the "Add this Script" field (Does this field need to be updated to work with ShareThis? Will we need new scripts to enter in this field of each language site home page?)
  • Enter one of the below scripts for the respective environments you are in when authoring (add the script which is inside src):
    • DEV: <script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-5ebbcbcb447565f5"</script>
    • QA: <script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-5ebc07e36e205754"</script>
    • STAGE: <script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-5e3b2b72ecf4b268"</script>
    • PROD: <script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-5e3b2b72ecf4b268"</script>
  • "Save and Close" the changes

Once the script is added in the Page Properties, the Social Media Sharing component with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn icons will become visible in the authoring area of any page including the Social Media Sharing component or the experience fragment that has been created per the authoring instructions below.

Component Authoring

Manual Authoring

  • Use Text component for the "Share Content" text. Use Bold for its styling
  • Use Separator component with Horizontal Rule style selected
  • Use Social Media Sharing component to show and enable the Share functionality for the Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn icons

Please note: You will not see any social media icons in the authoring interface until the Page Properties have been set up per the process above.

Experience Fragment Authoring

  • Add the Experience Fragment component
  • Browse for this experience fragment: https://author-aveva-esec-prod65.adobecqms.net/aem/experience-fragments.html/content/experience-fragments/aveva/language-masters/en/site/social-add-on/master
