Web Project Scoping Checklist

Think through the following when planning a new project for the website.

Front End, Responsive Design and Accessibility

API Strategy

  • Interface front end
  • Detail page, if applicable - Where hosted? AEM or third party?

Customization Strategy

Navigation Strategy

  • Header flyout and Utility Nav
  • Footer
  • Sitemap web page
  • Site structure - new site section or part of existing site section, etc.
  • Breadcrumbs - starting breadcrumb, any hidden levels?
  • Assess impact to international sites - Keep sites parallel with the same links; link text will need to be translated; if there is no local page equivalent, then link to the English version of page

Page Strategy

  • Page Folder Structure and URL Strategy
  • SEO strategy
  • Template(s) - AEM page template and content template
  • Component(s)
  • Content Tree
  • Any custom code requirements, including CSS and/or JS
  • Any development requirements for new functionality or enhancements
  • Assess impact to international sites - Will page(s) be translated? Which languages?

Asset Strategy

  • Hosting Locations - MediaValet to AEM vs AEM only; Wistia for videos
  • File Types
  • Image Dimensions
  • Asset Folder Structure and URL Strategy
  • Assess impact to international sites - Will any pdfs be translated? Which languages?

Tag Strategy and Page Label Strategy

  • Tag(s) - new and existing - Warning: May need to consider impact to other platforms (AEM, Marketo, MediaValet, HighSpot, Wistia, etc.)
  • Page Label - based on a tag
  • Assess impact to international sites - Do tags need to be translated for facets and/or Page Labels?

Search Strategy

Internal Search

  • Show/Hide from Coveo - Refer to Site Configuration section of Page Properties
  • Show/Hide Children from Coveo - Refer to Site Configuration section of Page Properties
  • Page Type vs Content Type - decision will determine which AEM Page Properties are searched by Coveo
  • Facets - new and existing
  • Page Label
  • Coveo enhancements to display/hide pages and/or facets
  • Assess impact to international sites - Do tags need to be translated for facets and/or Page Labels?

External Search

Lead Gen Strategy

  • Marketo Forms
  • Top Banner
  • Offer Banner(s)
  • Contact Banner
  • Assess impact to international sites - Do local forms need to be used when page is translated?

Redirect Strategy

  • May be relevant if new experience replaces existing experience - Refer to Redirects
  • Assess impact to international sites - Do equivalent local pages need same redirect updates as the English pages?

Testing
