Eramet: Innovative lithium extraction with AVEVA PI System and AVEVA Production Management
Eramet is building a plant in Argentina's Salta province to extract lithium from one of the world's largest lithium deposits. In the Salar, the Lithium is found in natural brine that is pumped to the plant where lithium is extracted using an innovative direct lithium extraction process developed by Eramet which has the following advantages over the conventional lagoon process: increased extraction yield, reduced water usage and reduced production time (days vs months). To monitor the performance of the new plant, Eramet selected the AVEVA PI System and AVEVA Production Management. The AVEVA solutions’ interoperability made it possible for Eramet to manage downtime, performance, quality, inventory, operational knowledge and planning of its plant resulting in many benefits such as elimination of non-productive time, real-time visibility over its process and assets and much more.
