Types of Tag Management
New
Tag Title
The tag title is the label that will be seen on the front end in filters and facets.
The tag title may be translated for the international sites.
The tag title is also the meta keyword for SEO.
Follow these guidelines for the tag title:
- Use a space between words
- Use correct punctuation
- Use Title Case (or sentence case?)
- Do not use the same terminology in more than one tag to avoid confusion or misuse
Tag Path
The tag path is the unique identifier for each tag.
Follow these guidelines for the tag path, which are similar to URL guidelines:
- Use a hyphen between words
- Use all lowercase letters
- Do not use any special characters (amperand - &, slash - /, comma - ,)
Edit
Tag Titles or Tag Paths can be edited. Remember to "Publish" the edits.
Confirm if tag should be unpublished before changes are made and then re-published; if tag is re-published, does it happen before or after live copy pages are re-published
References will update automatically in both language-masters and live copy; however, all referenced pages will need to be republished in live copy before changes will be reflected on the front-end in results for filters, facets, and Card Carousels. (There is no need to rollout when republishing; just republish in live copy.)
Delete
Tags can be deleted, but it is recommended to unpublish the tags before deleting them. Why?
References will update automatically in language-masters and live copy.
Need to confirm if republishing needs to be done on referenced pages
Move
Tags can be moved from one location to another. For example, rather than deleting tags, the tags can be moved from under Topics to under Personalization > Interest.
Confirm if tag should be unpublished before changes are made and then re-published; if tag is re-published, does it happen before or after live copy pages are re-published

Merge
Two or more tags can be merged into one tag. This scenario typically occurs when a page is being redirected and its tag merges into the tag used for the page being redirected to.

Considerations
Front-End Impacts
It is important to note that new tags, as well as tag edits/merges/moves, will not display in facets and filters on the front end until the following have been completed:
- Tag is published/re-published
- AEM pages have been tagged and/or published with the new/edited/merged/moved tag
- Coveo search platform re-indexes (occurs each hour)
Confirm what needs to be done to remove deleted tags from facets and fiters - does it disappear as soon as it is deleted, or does Coveo need to re-index?
Prep Work Before Changes Are Made
