AVEVA InTouch HMI 2023: A fresh user experience and unlimited tags

Posted:  August 02, 2022

AVEVA™ InTouch HMI makes it easy for operators to optimize routine interactions with industrial processes. The more complex your operations become, the more you need a common-sense, real-time view of your business. AVEVA InTouch HMI helps you innovate to standardize and visualize your entire enterprise.

What's New in AVEVA InTouch HMI 2023

WindowMaker has a modern user experience, with streamlined workflows that increase engineering efficiency. The product and icons have been redesigned for an enhanced user experience. Some of the key highlights of the new WindowMaker user interface are:

  • New backstage, menu items, and groups—all the configurations and special operations that users frequently access are now in the backstage under the file menu. All other AVEVA InTouch HMI commands have been reorganized in different menus based on their functionality and ease of accessibility.
  • WindowMaker is customizable to suit your preferences. InTouch HMI can be switched between light and dark themes.
  • Improved search functionality in WindowMaker allows you to search keywords simultaneously within windows, scripts, tags, and symbols.

InTouch HMI 2023 supports an unlimited tag count. The run-time database (InTouch tag name dictionary) stores unlimited tags, including local tags and tags that reference a remote tag source.

In addition, AVEVA InTouch HMI is offered with the following tag counts: 1,000; 2,500; 10,000; 100,000 and unlimited. AVEVA™ Flex credits and unlocks unlimited tags and the ability to scale AVEVA InTouch HMI applications quickly.

To support modern hardware controllers and PLCs, the tag name length has been extended from 32 to 128 characters. Item name lengths have been extended from 79 to 254 characters.

InTouch HMI supertags have been improved to provide an organizational structure for flat tag names associated with assets like a pump or valve. Supertags are more easily accessible from the Windows UI panel, which helps improve workflows by making it easier to manage members, instances, and attributes. Improve engineering efficiency with a templated approach to tag creation.

The event and alarm client control support runtime language switching for alarm group names, alarm comments, event comments, and status bar messages to provide a better user experience for operators internationally.

We support industrial graphics versioning through AVEVA™ Development Studio. Collaborate and standardize by providing the ability to manage and publish multiple versions of graphics to the cloud. You can only get this capability through AVEVA Flex.

Personal workspaces

AVEVA InTouch HMI users can develop ad hoc run-time displays and seamless access to data, without engineering development tools or scripting. Personal workspaces use responsive web visualization to give operators real-time information.

Map application web widget

The new map application web widget incorporates a zoomable map into InTouch HMI applications and displays selected graphics in a geographical context. It supports popular map providers including Bing, Google, Baidu, ARCGIS, and more, and is perfect for geographically distributed applications such as oil and gas and water/wastewater. The map web widget is supported in both InTouch HMI and InTouch Web Client.

New web client packs

The InTouch HMI web server is now offered in increments of  5, 10, and 25 client packs for perpetual licenses. This expands on the InTouch web server with the unlimited user client license currently available through the AVEVA Flex commercial model.
